A re-explanation of my situation was created by phshbone
Hello all.
Just wanted to re-explain why I don’t always use my headphones or microphone. I asked in game if it was okay not long after the game ended and it was received well. That was a long time ago. I’ve tried to explain in game recently but I know most don’t look at the chat.
First, I do have a headset and microphone. Not the greatest but I have one.
When I first started playing on your servers after the game officially ended I was mic’ed up and more active. Unfortunately, sometimes life has a way of ruining your fun. I’m the primary caregiver for an elderly relative who has swallowing and choking issues. It’s a round the clock situation. Ive had to move my office/pc setup right next them/bedroom to monitor. I tried staying on mic for a while initially but it became an issue due to the close proximity of my loud voice. And whispering is creepy. As for wearing headphones. That proves to be difficult as well. I usually have at least one on but need to keep the other mostly off to listen for their choking. On occasion I may be idle for a sec…or longer…to manually clear their throat. And on some of the more trying days, when things settle down, I just blast loud music to clear my head and decompress. It really wears on you emotionally. I do usually mute the whole opposition team to cut down on the noise - as well as a few of the chattier people in game. So if I’m ignoring you, that’s mostly the reason.
I’ve been playing AA since they released the shooting range on Thanksgiving 2001. Its been a constant in my life’s and It’s certainly been a great release/escape on trying days.
I think that’s it. Well, thanks for allowing me to play on your servers all these years. It’s greatly appreciated.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays/Happy New Year
